Personal Work Day:
May 18, 2012
In a non-graphic design or book related note but a completely culturally relevant one, David Byrne turned 60 today. In celebration I’ve purchased the following top. I intend on wearing it every summer day until it disintegrates. That’s all.

Thinking.
These Icon’s were initially suppose to be attached to another project, but since I’ve enjoyed making them so much they’ve become their own. The premise is simple, these are icon’s for my life, my version of emoticons. The first set of 50 should be available to download relatively soon, with additional ones made on a bi-monthly bases.

April 22, 20121 note #hand drawn#type#typographyApril 20, 20126 notesIce Cream + Booze = LOUISE
WHAT IS LOUISE?
LOUISE is a new concept located in New York City that mixes a traditional bar with an ice cream parlour. A tightly curated menu will feature boozy ice creams, sorbets, gelato, shakes, floats, piraguas and many other cold concoctions alongside a full bar and classic cocktail menu. The essence of LOUISE transcends traditional definitions of “dessert” and “liquor,” so the atmosphere will evoke a new social experience full of surprises and unpretentious elegance.WHY NEW YORK?
New York needs LOUISE. While there are already plenty of bars and ice cream shops in the city, none offer the unique fusion of two rich temptations. LOUISE will provide a flavorful experience to those who are looking for a new kind of bar to those with an experimental palate. LOUISE will bring together a community of dessert experts and enthusiasts to allow frozen treats to be enjoyed year-round, with libations as its main staple for the menu. Every cold creation will be handmade with the finest local produce and organic ingredients to make these treats even more delicious. Additionally, the liquor used to mix drink concoctions will be top shelf and of a craft quality. New Yorkers deserve the best. WHO IS LOUISE? The founder and brains behind LOUISE is Ariel Louise Marie Elias. As a graphic design student, Ariel invented the concept as a part of a senior project at the School of Visual Arts and decided to make it real. LOUISE merges her love of cold cocktail creations with her love of graphic design. Design training often involves creating identities for hypothetical businesses — that has limited impact, her concept was to create both an identity, menu and a service which was as sweet and intoxicating as the design.GIVE LOUISE SOME LOVE!
LOUISE needs buddies. Your contribution will bring her to life and help seed the initial start-up. Product development and promotion are just some of the operational tasks ahead. While a retail space may be far-off, in the mean time, your contribution will be invested in location scouting, research, appliances, equipment, and building a culinary team. Help LOUISE toward becoming a real place to better serve you refreshing effervescent creations! Say hi to LOUISE:
SPECIAL THANKS:
Hey. LOUISE would just be a dream without people who care. This is my thanks to all who have helped so far, and plan to contribute or support LOUISE in any way! I appreciate you! Especially Monica Estornell and Sarah Peters for filming, Steven Lambiase for editing, Danielle Mitchell for helping build my website, Harry Al-Khatib, Yulsoo Sung, Mine Kavuncu, Elaan Ventura Bourne, Pamela Moore for endless support, and Joe Marianekfrom Pentagram for his design guidance and encouragement. Also, the School of Visual Arts is awesome for posting this on their Kickstarter page, and the SVA Graphic Design Department Chair, Richard Wilde, will definitely get a two-for-one deal.
